LAHORE, April 6: SHV Energy defeated Dew Drops 8-7 in the final of the Musa Industries Cup polo tournament despite a hat trick by Taimur Malik for Dew Drops.

The winners were comfortably ahead 7-4 when the final fourth chukker started. Taimur, who in all scored four goals, contributed three goals in the last chukker to make a match from it.

But a goal in the early stages of the fourth chukker by Asif Yar Tiwana, who scored three for the winners, proved decisive.

SHV led the first chukker 2-1 as Usman Hayee and Azhar Ali who scored three and two goals, respectively for the winners struck their first.

Hasan Raza Gilani scored a field goal off Taimur’s pass to narrow the margin.

SHV struck three more goals in the second chukker making it 5-2.

Asif struck his first for SHV by converting a 40 yard  penalty  hit, followed  by a goal from Usman, his second which raised the  lead to 4-1.

Taimur reduced the margin 4-2 by scoring his first goal with an angular shot. But SHV again increased the lead when Usman struck his third before the chukker ended.

The winners retained their lead 7-4 in the third chukker when Azhar and Asif scored their second goals each. Malik Atif Yar Tiwana scored back  to back goals for Dew to reduce the margin,  before  Taimur spread the scare in the fourth chukker.

Earlier, Tari’s Own beat Artex International 5- 3 1/2 to  earn the third place.

I  A Khan and Raja Sattar scored two goals each  for  the winners while Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana added a goal.
