OKARA, April 6: The Anjuman Mazareen Punjab has declared all set for Monday’s convention in village 10/4-L on military farms which will also be addressed by ARD leaders, including Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan.

“This is a big occasion during the tenants’ drive to get ownership of the state land they and their ancestors have toiled for almost a century,” said an AMP spokesman.

The Okara military farms and Punjab Seed Corporation land in Peerowal, Khanewal district, have been the scene of unrest since the start of the tenants’ push for malki yaa maut (ownership of death).

So far, six tenants have been killed. Over 500 cases have been registered against them. Their main leadership is now behind the bars.

Last year, the Punjab government deputed rangers in Okara for some ‘mediation’ between the tenants and MF administration when the movement caused a law and order situation.

Meanwhile, police in Lahore sealed AMP office on Multan Road on Sunday.

ROAD CRASH: Sixteen passengers of a Vehari-bound marriage party sustained injuries when their bus overturned on GT Road near Chak 11/1-AL.

Bride, three women and 12 others were shifted to various hospitals.
