BADIN: Students to get scholarships

By Our Correspondent

BADIN, April 6: The federal ministry of religious affairs has sanctioned Rs5.5 million for primary and Rs8.5 million for university students of the Badin district.

This was said by the chairman of the Sindh chief minister’s inspection team, Nazar Hussain Mahar, while speaking at a meeting here on Saturday.

The amount, he said, sanctioned in this regard would be disbursed through the respective educational institutions.

Stressing the need to improve quality of education, he said that a model school project had been approved for each of the taluka headquarters and the Asian Development Bank would assist in this regard.

After visiting development schemes, including schemes under the Tawana Pakistan, Mr Mahar expressed dissatisfaction over the work, saying that people’s problems were being overlooked because of the disinterest of the concerned officials.

Asking the district government to remain vigilant, he said that it should improve its supervisory role regarding the completion of the development schemes.
