SUKKUR, April 2: A man who was reportedly arrested on Sunday died at the Sukkur Civil Hospital of police torture on Wednesday.

The man, Mohammad Yaqoob Arain, was picked up by the police in a theft case and kept at the A-section police station without entering his name in daily diary.

The police shifted the accused to the civil hospital after severely torturing him where he died.

However, the police declined to have arrested Yaqoob Arain and said no FIR was registered against him.

The residents of the area said Yaqoob Arain was in police custody for the last three days in a theft case.

The relatives have staged a protest against the killing of Yaqoob Arain.

SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide by taking pesticides near Gadani Phatak here on Wednesday.

However, the relatives of the woman, Bashiran Gadani, told the police her husband and in-laws were involved in the murder. The relatives, along with the body, gathered at the Shikarpur Road and staged a demonstration, demanding arrest of the killers.
