KARACHI: Govt flayed over killings in Kashmor

KARACHI, April 2: The provincial president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, MNA Asadullah Bhutto, has criticized the government for its failure in arresting those involved in the killing of 15 people in Kashmore despite the passage of three days.

Talking to a delegation of people from Kashmore, he said the government had failed to maintain law and order in the area.

“The government functionaries are using police and other law- enforcement agencies for their political objectives while ordinary citizens have been left at the mercy of anti-social elements,” he added.

He alleged that Jacobabad has become a danger zone for its citizens as people moving out of their homes after sunset never know whether they would be able to return safely. It is the responsibility of the government to protect the lives and property of the people, he added.

Demanding immediate arrest of all those involved in the incident, he also asked the government to provide compensation to the bereaved families and medical treatment to those injured.

PPP: Leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly and provincial President of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, on Wednesday alleged that the attitude of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar on the Kashmore killings indicated that the government was least concerned about security of the people.

Talking to the relatives of the victims of the Kashmore incident, he said it appeared that the culprits were beyond the reach of the law-enforcement agencies as none of them has so far been identified or arrested.—PPI
