GUJRANWALA, April 1: A milkmen colony will be constructed outside the city and all cattle will be shifted there.

This was decided at a meeting of the Gujranwala Development Authority’s governing body on Tuesday. City Tehsil Nazim and GDA governing body chairman Babu Javed Ahmad presided.

Approving the feasibility plan, the meeting decided to acquire 300 acres for the construction of the colony near Gondlanwala. Provision of all civic facilities would also be ensured at the colony.

The meeting also approved the plan to construct public toilets in the T-Block of GDA plaza. A 19-shop commercial centre would be constructed in the west of the GDA plaza. The meeting urged that construction on these projects should be started soon.

GDA director-general Pervaiz Sultan, Wasa managing director Muhammad Aslam Niazi, finance department’s under secretary Sakhi Muhammad, project director Shaukat Ali, EDO works Zaheerul Hasan Zaidi and director estate Malik Abid attended the meeting.

Shafqat Husain had been without a job since long. He demanded money from his parents on Tuesday. On their refusal, he allegedly took poisonous pills.

He was taken to the DHQ Hospital where he died. The body was handed over to the family.

ARRESTED: The district police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested 15 proclaimed offenders and dozen court fugitive during four-hour operation here on Tuesday. District Police Officer Saud Aziz told newsmen that the police had seized illicit arms and narcotics.
