Consumers, Hesco officials clash

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, April 1: After trading allegations over power theft and inflated bills, Hesco officials and Sarohi tribesmen clashed over the disconnection of electricity on Tuesday.

The lineman, Hesco, Gambat, Nazar Ali, has registered an FIR with the Gambat police alleging that several men including Abdul Qadir, Nadeem, and Nazeer attacked him when the officials went there to disconnect the illegal electricity line.

Later, a large number of Sarohi tribesmen went to the Khairpur Press Club where they held a demonstration against Hesco officials.

They said that the Hesco officials themselves were involved in electricity theft.

They said that the case registered against them was false because the villagers had informed senior Hesco officials about the power theft.

BUFFALOES STOLEN: Eight armed men barged into the house of a man, A. Wadhayo Rahoojo, held all the residents hostage and stole three buffaloes in the Mangerji village, near Pir Jo Goth, on Monday night.

MOTORCYCLE SNATCHED: Three unknown armed men snatched a motorcycle from a Hesco line superintendent, Atta Hussain Jamro, at the Sher Mohammad village, near Ranipur, on Monday night.

CEILING FANS STOLEN: Some unknown thieves broke into a primary school in the Makan Khan Kubar village, near Setharja, and stole ceiling fans.

MEN INJURED: Seven Shar tribesmen injured a man, Maula Bux Shar, with sticks over a land dispute in the Rasoolpur village, Thari Mirwah Taluka, on Monday night.

In another incident, a man, Rahmatullah Kolachi, was injured near Ahmedpur on Monday night.

The motive behind the incident is said to be an old enmity.
