MIRPURKHAS, April 1: The chairman of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Basheer Khan Qureshi, has condemned the US attack on Iraq and killing of civilians there.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday, the JSQM chairman said that his party was for peace and every country has a right to defend its independence and sovereignty, therefore, America and the other coalition partners should immediately stop attacking Iraq.

He said that despite the Sindh Assembly’s unanimously passed resolution, 15 kms of the Thal canal had been constructed while tenders had been invited for the remaining portion.

He said it was evident that Punjab was not giving importance to the voice of the people of Sindh.

He expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province saying no government officer was ready to hear the grievances of the people.

ENCOUNTER: Two alleged dacoits were killed in an encounter with police in the jurisdiction of the Khan police station late Monday night.

The DPO, Mohammad Amin, told newsmen on Tuesday that some dacoits were seen in the jurisdiction of the Khan police station late Monday night. SHO Ghulam Mustafa Zardari with a police contingent surrounded the dacoits at the Misri Meghwar village. The dacoits on seeing the police opened indiscriminate fire. Police retaliated as a result of which two dacoits, Mumtaz Ali Mari and Qurban Ali Mari, were killed.

Police said that they recovered a Kalashnikov, a rifle, a grenade, a double magazine, 107 bullets and 226 SMG rounds from the spot.

DISTRICT NAZIM: The district Nazim, Mirpurkhas, Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, said that the government has allocated Rs157.3 million under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme phase-IV for development works in the district of which Rs56.2 million has been provided to the district government.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of the district advisory committee on Monday.

STRANGULATED: A man, Mohammad Khan Kapri, 35, was strangulated in the Haji Wali Mohammad Kapri village, Deh Daro, Kunri Taluka, on Monday.
