KARACHI, April 1: People faced hardships in hot and dry weather when the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation carried out a forced shutdown due to extensive power load on its many transformers.
KESC officials said they had carried out the forced shut down in the areas around Maulvi Tameezuddin Road and in different localities of Federal B Area from one to two hours.
However, residents of Kausar Town, Indus Mehran Society, Pak Kausar Town, Saudabad, and Saudia Colony in Malir complained that they had been facing severe hardships for the past 15 days as power breakdowns had become a routine matter in their areas.
An angry consumer of the KESC said that because of the power failure his children were finding it exceedingly difficult to prepare for their exams.
Another resident said that water supply was carried out during the evening and due to the power failure the pumping stations could not work, which led to the halt in water supply.
