PESHAWAR, April 1: The Frontier Highway Authority on Tuesday initiated the construction of an underpass at the Jail intersection.

The project would be completed in 18 months and during the period traffic on the Sher Shah Road, in the cantonment area, would be diverted to alternative routes, official sources said.

The city police have erected a barricade at the FC Chowk and the Jail Bridge to divert the traffic to other routes.

The public transporters have been asked by the police to ply their vehicles on the Civil Quarters and Shoba roads to reach their destinations in the city, while the private vehicles’ owners are asked to use The Mall and Fort roads to reach cantonment and city areas.

The police have also asked the vehicles coming from the city area to  take the Khyber Road as an alternative route to the cantonment area.
