LTTE warns rivals political group

By Frances Bulathsinghala

COLOMBO, April 1: The Tamil Tigers (LTTE) has reacted strongly to the statement of the President of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), Mr Anandasangari, that he would contest the forthcoming local government elections independently.

The LTTE issued a ‘final’ warning to the TULF president, to resign from his post. An understanding signed by the LTTE and the other political parties allows all political campaigning to tilt in LTTE’s favour.

LTTE had also criticized Anandasangari after (he made) certain statements against the LTTE. Anandasangari, in a recent statement to supporters at Jaffna, had said that the LTTE was not the sole representative of Tamils.
