SIALKOT, March 31: Constable Muhammad Ashraf, one of the policemen injured in a shootout with a gang a few days ago, succumbed to his injuries at the Government Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital, here on Monday.
His funeral was held at the Sialkot police lines in the afternoon, and was laid to rest at his native graveyard.
A head-constable was killed while seven other policemen, including a sub-inspector, were injured in an encounter with an alleged PO and his five accomplices in Mubarakpura on Saturday.
Hajipura police have yet to arrest the accused.
INDIAN FIRING: After about two-week break in an exchange of fire at the Sialkot working boundary, the Indian forces on Monday fired with light and heavy machine-guns at villages in Sialkot and Narowal.
The sectors, which came under fire, are Chhumb, Joriyan, Bajwat, Sucheetgarh, Darman, Bajragarhi, Zafarwal, Shakargarh and Narowal.
Official sources claimed no casualty took place in the firing.
