KARACHI, March 31: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar on Monday separately expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of life in the Kashmor tribal clash, reports PPI.

Both the governor and the chief minister ordered the police to take strict action against the culprits involved in the incident in which 14 persons were killed, the news agency said.

Mr Mahar, according to the news agency, also announced that each of the person killed in the incident would be paid Rs100,000 in compensation while Rs25,000 would be paid to each of the injured. The injured, he added, would be treated at government cost.

In a related development, emergency had been declared in hospitals of Jacobabad, Larkana, Shikarpur and Sukkur, a directive issued by the provincial secretary, health, Ashiq Hussein Memon on Monday.

Doctors had been advised to provide best possible medical care to the people injured in the Kashmor tribal clash, it added.

Meanwhile, the People’s Party Parliamentarians expressed its concern over the killing of 15 people in Kashmor and demanded of the authorities to take strict action against the culprits in this regard.

Criticising the administration and the Sindh government, president of the PPP, Sindh, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, party’s provincial general secretary Rashid Rabbani and MPA Mukesh Kumar in their joint statement said: “The efficiency of the local administration and the provincial government is evident from this deadly incident.”

Leaders of the PPP maintained that the overall law and order situation had worsened in Jacobabad because of the deadly clashes between Mazari and Bugti tribesmen, adding that the people of the area were feeling insecure in the wake of the incident.

Mr Khuhro also appealed to elders of the Bugti and the Mazari tribes to use their influence over the warring factions to maintain peace in the area besides urge them to refrain from using such lethal weapons against innocent civilians.
