Trade ties with Germany

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, March 31: German ambassador Dr Christoph Bruemmer has said that there are bright prospects of expanding trade ties between Germany and Pakistan.

He was addressing the executive committee members of Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) here on Monday.

The ambassador while expressing the view that the foreign investment required certain security measures, said Pakistan’s image abroad had considerably improved in recent times. He said his country was annually investing about one million euros in Pakistan.

He said Pakistan’s textiles imports to Germany had increased in the past several years and added that German markets were open to Pakistani products. He said there were also opportunities for foreign investment in Pakistan, but it should be properly publicized and presented abroad. For this purpose, he added, there was an urgent need of activating the Pakistan-Germany Business Forum.

Dr Bruemmer invited the local industrialists and grinners at an exhibition of German-made textile machinery to be held in May in Lahore, where over 20 German firms will participate. He said they should visit the exhibition for interaction with their German counterparts.
