GUJRANWALA, March 30: Four policemen and a proclaimed offender were killed in an encounter in Ahmadnagar on Sunday afternoon.

He constituted a raiding team which surrounded the house and ordered them to surrender. But the outlaws opened indiscriminate fire, killing SHO Javaid Iqbal, sub-inspector Saifullah Malik, head-constable Naseer Ahmad and constable Mohammed Sarwar on the spot. Police returned the fire, but they escaped from the scene.

DIG range Malik Mohammed Iqbal, DPO Syed Saud Aziz and Wazirabad ASP Waqar Chuhan reached the spot along with a contingent of Elite Force and police commandos and besieged the village. Here again an exchange of fire took place in which one of the outlaws, identified as Ashfaq of Leveriwala, was killed. A police party was chasing the second accused in Chenab Bela till the filing of this report at 10pm.
