Pakistan win hockey title

Published March 31, 2003

IPOH (Malaysia), March 30: Shabbir Hussain struck a second half winner to help Pakistan lift the Azlan Shah hockey title after edging past world champions Germany 1-0 on Sunday.

Shabbir took advantage of a lapse in concentration among the German defenders to score in the 62nd minute off a Khalid Saleem pass near the goal.

It is the third time Pakistan have clinched the title. The team won the event earlier in 1999 and 2000.—AP/APP
