ISLAMABAD, March 30: The teachers of the federal directorate-run institutions will be made accountable for showing dismal performance, and those coming up with good results will be awarded, the FDE director-general said at a function here on Sunday.

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) is devising a mechanism in this regard, said Brig Maqsudul Hassan, at a ceremony held in connection with the announcement of primary class centralised examination results.

He said, “the introduction of centralised exams for primary class students is the first step towards this new system according to which teachers and students have become conscious of their progress”.

He told the mediamen that, FDE would ensure that teachers working at primary schools were working up to their potentials.

He also accepted that so far the primary education in the country had not been accorded due importance that was vital in this competitive world.

Special attention was being given to primary education to improve literacy rate and provide solid foundation to education, he maintained.

Mr Maqsud said in order to improve education standard, the directorate had taken the initiative of holding the class-5 centralized examinations, which had instilled the spirit of competition and consolidated the foundations of better academic development among teachers as well as students.

The DG said a visible change was evident in schools and model colleges, as every year things were moving in the positive side.

An effective system of reward and accountability will be in place on the basis of the results and best teachers will get awards while prizes will be distributed among top achievers.

It was also announced that top 150 boys and 150 girls of class five and class eight would be awarded scholarships of Rs100 per month each.

Over all result percentage of class V remained at 82.34 per cent.

Muhammad Athar Azeem, a student of FG Boys Primary School Ara Burji stood first by securing 282 marks out of 300, Amina Ali of FG Junior Model School, G-10/1 remained second and Jameel Shah of FG Junior Model School F-6/1 got third position.

Among the boys Muhammad Athar Azeem got first position, Jameel Shah second and Muhammad Naeem third.

Among the girls Amina Ali stood first, Faeyza Ashraf second and Shafiqa got third position.
