KARACHI, March 30: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) held a protest demonstration against US-led attack on Iraq here on Sunday.
The demonstrators set ablaze the effigies of US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, besides US flag and banners of BBC and CNN.
Mufti Abdul Haleem Qadri said non-Muslims were protesting against the aggression of the US and UK side-by-side with the Muslims which should be a matter of concern for George Bush and Tony Blair.
President of the MMA, Karachi, Hafiz Mohammad Taqi, urged the masses to force the government to change its pro-US policies.
JUP vice-president Shabbir Abu Talib said words of “sorrow” and “grief” would not be enough to condemn the aggressors.
Abdul Razzaq Sangani said an anti-Islam bloc had been formed consisting of the US, Israel and India, and the passion of jihad was necessary to fight against this design.—PPI
