US citizens cautioned

WASHINGTON, March 29: Two Iraqi terror plots were foiled in the Mideast, according to US officials, who warned US citizens that Pakistan and Yemen are likely sites for reprisals for the US-led war in Iraq.

The week-old Iraq war has emboldened Arab opponents, leading US officials to fear that the Arab street could be a dangerous place for US citizens.

US officials did not name the countries in which Iraqi terrorist plots against US interests had been broken up. They did say they had uncovered similar attack plans for cities around the world.

“In both cases, operatives were arrested and terrorist material confiscated,” State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Friday.—AFP
