Dialogue on LFO to continue
By Our Staff Reporter
ISLAMABAD, March 29: A joint PML-Q-MMA team held talks with a president’s team on Friday on the Legal Framework Order and timeframe for President Musharraf to step down as the army chief.
The discussions, held over a dinner, however, failed to achieve any breakthrough, sources told Dawn.
“No breakthrough was achieved at the meeting except a desire shown by the president’s team to continue dialogue on all issues,” Liaquat Baloch, a member of the MMA team, told Dawn.
The president’s side insisted that Gen Musharraf would not leave the COAS office before five years which he had given to himself through the LFO, Mr Baloch said.
Both the sides discussed the LFO article by article and decided that an official team would put together its recommendations on bringing changes to the said piece of legislation for further negotiations.
