HARIPUR, March 29: Tehsil Naib Nazim Amin Khan Badhora had to prorogue the council’s session on Saturday when the members protested against  invasion of Iraq by US-led forces and did not allow the proceedings to continue.

When the session began, the members stood up and protested against taking up of normal business without condemning the attack on Iraq.

After failing to control the unruly members, the convener adjourned the session indefinitely.

Later, the members, led by Tehsil Nazim Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, took out a protest procession from the Tehsil council hall to Chowk Panian.

Speaking to the protesters, Raja Ehtesham, Ghulam Jan, Sheikh Abid, Gul Ambrin, Ms Farhat and others criticized the United States and United Kingdom’s aggression and bombing of civilians.

They said the attack carried out without United Nations Security Council’s consent was part of a ploy for taking hold of Iraqi natural resources.

They called for unity among the Ummah and urged the government to adopt a bold stand on the issue and declare the United States an international terrorist.
