KARACHI, March 29: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind said the K-III project would be completed by the year 2005.

He was talking to a group of journalists in his office here on Saturday.

He said the installation of the desalination plant in the metropolis would also contribute towards solving the water problem in the city. He added that planning was being undertaken in that respect also.

He informed that a sum of Rs1300 million had been earmarked for the revamp of the irrigation system in the province and work on feasibility and other aspects was continuing.

He also shed light on various aspects of the Khushal Pakistan Programme, the Village Electrification Programme, the Annual Development Programme and some other projects.

The chief secretary said the Sindh government had started payment of required funds for the development work at the journalists housing society at Hawkesbay and determination of a date for the inaugural ceremony by the president of the journalists society was awaited so that the work was initiated in a regular manner.

It was stated that the chief secretary had sought detailed report from district coordination officers regarding cooperative housing societies and colonies in their respective jurisdictions.—APP
