KARACHI, March 29: Students belonging to the NED University of Engineering and Technology and the University of Karachi on Saturday staged a protest demonstration in front of the NED University denouncing US-led invasion of Iraq.
They marched from NED University to the Nipa roundabout in a rally. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-US slogans and demands.
The rally was organised by the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT).
IJT representatives in their speeches on the occasion said the invasion of Iraq was a challenge for the world community and they should take it seriously; otherwise the evil coalition of US and Britain would target other peaceful nations. They said if Iraq was occupied the Arabs would have to live once again in tents installed in deserts.
Meanwhile, a large number of doctors, paramedical staff, representatives of the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) , Aomen Aid Trust, Mothers Action Forum and other NGOs also held a protest demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club (KPC) against the US-led invasion of Iraq.
Carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-US and anti-British slogans both in Urdu and English languages, the protesters expressed their anguish and demanded immediate end to the aggression against Iraq.
They said innocent people were being targeted and the world community should take it seriously and put pressure on US and Britain to stop bombing civilians.—PPI
