LAHORE, March 28: Two goals by Taimur Malik helped Guard Rice to enter the final of the Mary Gold polo cup tournament, defeating Silver Spurs 4-3 in the semifinal here on Friday.

Spurs led 2-0 till the second chukker. I A Khan scored a goal in the first while Aamir Ali Noon a goal in the second chukker.

Rice equalised 2-2 in the third chukker when Shah Qublai Alam and Arslan Najeeb struck a goal each.

In the fourth chukker, Taimur scored back to back goals for Guard to put them ahead 4-2 for the first time in the match.

Azhar Ali scored a goal in the dying minute for the losers but only to reduce the lead 4-3.

Guard Rice will meet Green Earth Recycling in the final on Sunday.

Earlier, Diamond Paints beat Aptex International 5-3 to qualify for the subsidiary final.

For the winners, Ashfaq scored three goals while Mir Shoaib and Shehzad Aziz a goal apiece.

For the losers, who were playing with two goals on handicap, Feroz Gulzar scored the solitary goal.
