KARACHI: Uplift of coastal areas discussed

KARACHI, March 28: The Vice-Chancellor, NED University of Engineering, Abul Kalam, on Friday met Chief Secretary K.B. Rind and discussed matters relating to development of the province’s coastal areas.

Mr Rind said the Coastal Development Authority had been asked to submit a detailed report regarding development of coastal areas while the government had allocated funds for a master plan and feasibility report for development projects like Keenjhar lake, Al-Manzar Jamshoro, Lab-i-Mehran Sukkur, etc.

He said for socio-economic development, infrastructure aspects were also being looked after.

The chief secretary pointed out that development of such projects would help raise employment opportunities.

Mr Kalam appreciated these measures and offered the university’s services in providing harbour engineering facility to help the government accomplish such major projects.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the All-Pakistan Newspapers Employees’ Cooperative Housing Society also met the chief secretary and sought his help and cooperation for solution to their problems.

Mr Rind assured them that progress regarding the society would be made in the manner which was made in the case of journalists’ housing society in the Hakesbay.—APP
