Youth, students stage anti-US demonstration

RAWALPINDI, March 27: The activists of Shabab-i-Milli and Islami Jamiat Talaba here on Thursday staged separate rallies against the US-led forces’ aggression on innocent Iraqis.

Hundreds of Shabab-i-Milli activists gathered near Committee Chowk and blocked the Murree Road for about half an hour. They also burnt tyres. The demonstrators were chanting slogans while carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-US slogans. ‘Stop war, murders for oil’, ‘America is international terrorist’, ‘Stop Bush from aggression’ and ‘UN should play its role,’ read some of the banners.

Later, the Shabab leaders condemned America for its aggression against Iraq. They demanded an immediate halt to the US bombing of Iraqi people. They said about 10,000 of their supporters were ready to join the Iraqi forces against the US. The also demanded of the government to declare Jehad against the US. They said at the request of Jamat-i-Islami chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, they had decided to boycott American goods.

The leaders targeted the UN for its failure to play role in stopping the aggression.

Meanwhile, the students of Arid Agriculture University having affiliation with Islami Jamiat Talaba brought out an anti war rally. The demonstration was joined by scores of students from the university. The protectors demanded an early halt to the bombing of cities and killing of people in Iraq. They asked the Muslims to stand by their Iraqi Muslims in this hour of trial.

The IJT leaders censured the failure of UN in playing its role in Iraq. The students expressed their anger against the atrocities of US-led forces in Iraq.
