Journalist Shamsul Haq passes away

LAHORE, March 27: Senior journalist and former Dawn staffer Shamsul Haq Khan died of liver failure here on Thursday evening. He was 70.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and as many daughters.

His funeral prayers will be held at 8am at 267-B, Revenue Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Jauhar Town, on Friday. He will be buried in Rabwa after the Asr prayers.

Born in Malawi, Central Africa, in 1933, Mr Haq worked as a Quetta correspondent of The Times of Karachi, Millat and The Civil and Military Gazette before joining Dawn in 1957.

He moved to Lahore in 1992 and continued to work with Dawn as part of its reporting team until three months back when he stopped attending the office due to poor health.
