Senate session begins today

ISLAMABAD, March 26: The Senate session, requisitioned by opposition members, will begin here on Thursday.

According to the agenda given by the opposition, the House will discuss the US-led attack on Iraq and the issue of Legal Framework Order (LFO).

It may be mentioned here that about 33 opposition members of the Senate filed requisition to summon the session.

Parliamentary parties of PML-Q, MMA and PPP have already convened their meetings before the session separately.—APP

Jonaid Iqbal adds: The Senate session is likely to be prorogued on Friday, says an official.

On Wednesday, the Senate secretariat issued the order of the day listing three Ordinances to be tabled for the debate. These include the Agricultural Development Bank reorganisation and conversion amendment ordinance 2002; Safeguard measures amendment ordinance 2002; and removal from service special powers ordinance 2003.

The three ordinances were tabled in the National Assembly, but could not come up for consideration of the lower House in view of the LFO imbroglio, which dominated the last two sessions of National Assembly in March.
