KARACHI: Three killed, accidents claim four lives

KARACHI, March 26: Unknown men shot dead a driver in Ferozabad on Wednesday.

Police said that Aslam, aged 40, driver of (AEL-484) Suzuki Cultus, was shot dead by two young men near the junction of Shahrae Faisal and Shahrae Qaideen, on Wednesday morning.

Police, quoting eyewitnesses, said that Aslam had a fight with the occupants of a Suzuki Mehran (ADF-923).

The two occupants of the Suzuki had probably bumped their vehicle into the backside of Aslam’s car. Aslam had overpowered one of the suspect when his accomplice came out and shot him twice. He suffered wounds in his arm and back. The two suspects sped away in their vehicle.

Police added that according to eyewitnesses the rangers posted at the crossing of the two main arteries stood silent during the whole episode.

People who had gathered at the spot told that the injured was left unattended at the spot as the rangers officials had told the concerned bystanders that an ambulance would shift him to the hospital.

Finally two policemen of the Ferozabad police station reached the spot on their motorcycle and shifted Aslam in his Cultus. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the JPMC.

KILLED: In a separate incident another driver was shot dead by unknown persons in North Karachi on Wednesday.

Police said that Muhammad Aslam, aged 35, was sitting in his Suzuki pickup (KC-4586) in sector 15-A Bufferzone when some unknown persons fired at him and escaped.

Police said the victim received a bullet in his temple and died instantly. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the postmortem examination.

A young man was killed by his friend over a petty issue in Mahmoodabad late Tuesday night.

Police said that Muhammad Ajaz, aged 20, was stabbed to death by his friend Dilawar Saqib over Rs60 in Mehmoodabad. The attacker escaped from the house after stabbing his friend. The victim was rushed to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead.

ACCIDENTS: Four persons died in separate road traffic accidents in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

Police said that a middle-aged man, Allahwarayo, was knocked down by a speeding vehicle near Al-Asif Square. The victim died on the spot, his body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

In a similar accident a man died in a hit-and-run accident at Khator Mor Super Highway early Wednesday morning.

Two motorcyclists died when they were hit by a trailer at Mai Kolachi on Wednesday. Police said that Khalid Husain, aged 40, and Muhammad Akbar, aged 20, (KCZ-5805), were knocked down by a trailer (JT-4046) at the Mai Kolachi bypass.

The two injured were shifted to the JPMC where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

FIRE: A cylinder blast caused a chain reaction triggering explosion in five gas cylinders at a LPG shop located at Nagen Chowrangi injuring a man on Wednesday evening.

A spokesman for the fire department said that explosions sparked a fire which was controlled by the firemen.
