ISLAMABAD, March 25: Pakistan Railways has planned to introduce five additional non-stop trains after receiving 175 new designed passenger carriages aimed at providing facilities to people for speedy journey.
According to sources in the ministry of railways, five additional non-stop trains will be introduced on various routes. According to plan, these routes will be Rawalpindi-Karachi, Faisalabad-Karachi, Faisalabad- Lahore, Lahore-Rawalpindi and Lahore-Karachi.
Talking about the infrastructure, the sources said the government took a number of decisions for the improvement of the Railways’ system. They said track would be doubled on Lodhran-Multan Cantt and Khanewal section (121 kms) to improve sectional capacity and punctuality. Increase in speeds of trains on Lahore- Faisalabad, Shorkot-Faisalabad and Lahore-Rawalpindi sections would be made. Computerization of reservation offices at Faisalabad, Multan, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Quetta would be introduced, they said. They said a website would be launched to provide online reservation facility for the convenience of public, which would provide information regarding seats availability and other information.
