Islamabad, Beijing pledge to continue cooperation

BEIJING, March 25: China and Pakistan on Tuesday reiterated their resolve to continue their cooperation on military-to-military level for peace and security.

The consensus to this effect was reached at a meeting held here between Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Chinese Defence General Minister Cao Gangchuan, official sources told APP.

The Chinese official, who called on the prime minister at the State Guest House, assured that Beijing would continue to extend all possible support to Islamabad for promoting its defence capability.

Mr Jamali said the Sino-Pakistan ties in the defence sector were meant to promote peace and stability in the region. He said Pakistan highly valued the assistance being provided by the Chinese government and its army in the defence sector. The cooperation of the two countries was of strategic importance, he added.
