KARACHI: City govt aims at 100pc literacy

KARACHI, March 25: Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan said here on Monday the promotion of education is included in the priority list of the city government, and it has allocated 31 per cent more funds for this sector in the budget.

He said never before was such a big amount allocated for the education sector in Karachi. He added that though Karachi was ahead of other cities in Pakistan in terms of literacy rate, the city government was trying to make it 100 per cent.

“We will achieve this target in the next 24-30 months,” he said.

He was speaking as chief guest at the award-presentation ceremony at Government Degree College for Women, Nazimabad.

Referring to the college’s problems, the nazim assured that efforts would be made for their solution.—APP
