KARACHI, March 25: The Sindh government has issued a sum of Rs100 million for development projects in Journalists Society, Hawkesbay, said the Director of the Lyari Development Project, Shafiqur Rahman Paracha, here on Tuesday.

He was speaking at a ceremony of lucky draw for 48 plots before the opening of tenders for development projects at the Journalists Society.

Later, tenders for construction of internal roads, bridges and sewerage lines in block-3 and block-3A were opened at the Civic Centre in the presence of office-bearers and members of Karachi Press Club, representatives and proprietors of construction firms.

KPC President Sabihuddin Ghausi, General Secretary Najeeb Ahmed, Director Planning LDA Manzar Zahoor were also present on the occasion.

Mr Paracha said development work at Journalists Society would soon be inaugurated. He said a six-member committee, comprising the director planning, the director finance, superintending engineers and three representatives of journalists, had been formed to monitor the construction work.

He said Rs230 million would be needed for development projects in the housing society, adding that in the first phase they would try to provide such facilities as could facilitate in the construction of houses.—PPI
