ISLAMABAD, March 24: Traders of Jinnah Super Market held a protest rally against the invasion of Iraq here on Monday.
Speaking to the participants of the rally, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader, MNA Mian Mohammad Aslam, said Iraq decided to fight against the aggressors instead of bowing down, which was the true Islamic spirit.
The traders of Jinnah Super Market, the busiest shopping centre in the posh F-7 Markaz, brought closed their business for the duration of the protest.
They were carrying posters of Iraqi President Saddam Hussain and placards inscribed with anti-US and anti-war slogans.
Mian Aslam, who returned last night from Lahore after participating in the MMA’s ‘million march’ addressed the traders.
He said the war in Iraq was a conflict between ‘aggressor and aggrieved’ and the whole world had clearly witnessed as to who was the real terrorist.
He said the US had become a symbol of terror and destruction in the world and nobody in Pakistan would ever raise slogans of Pakistan-America friendship in future.
The representatives of traders also spoke at the rally. They condemned the US action and voiced their support to Iraqi president and the people.
They said similar anti-US and anti-war rallies would be organized in other shopping centres and markets of the capital.
