Counsel for poor litigants

LAHORE, March 24: An LHC committee has recommended 46 lawyers for appointment as state-sponsored counsel for poor litigants.

The committee comprised Chief justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, Justice Javed Buttar, Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jilani, the Lahore High Court Bar Association president and the Punjab advocate-gen-eral.

The counsel include Iftikhar Ahmad Awan, Irum Gill, Marina Perveen, Mohammad Irtaza Awan, Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad, Mian Abdul Qayyum, Bashir Ahmad Gill, Syed Basharat Ahmad, Mian Saeedudin Ahmad, Sardar Zahid Gill, Syed Fayyaz Ahmad Sherazi, Sheikh Tariq Mahmood, Mirza Abdul Beg, Mohammad Zaman, Mukhtar ahmad Khan Niazi, Abdul Hameed Rana, Najma Perveen, Mohammad Gulzar Khan, Nasim Amin, Aliya Neelum, Chaudhry Mohammad Ayub, Mohammad Ali Dogar, Syed Fazal Hussain Jafferi, Kashif Nawaz Bajwa, Wasim Arif Chaudhry, Sarfraz Naveed, Safdar Hussain Tarar, S.D. Qureshi, Chaudhry Azeem Safdar, Mohammad Zeeshan Mirza, Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal, Haider Ali, Chaudhry Imtiaz Elahi, Ali Abid Tahir, Rubi Hayat Awan, Siddiqa Altaf, Tehseen Irfan, Raeesa Sarwat, Firdaus Imtiaz, Afzala Qureshi, Aliya Fatima, Fauzia Sultan and Nausheen Taskeen.
