Marriage Ord violator fined

KASUR, March 24: Former vice-chairman of the Kasur Municipal Committee was fined Rs200,000 for violating Wasteful Expenditures on Marriages Ordinance.

He was sentenced under sections 3 and 4 of the ordinance. He will have to undergo six months’ imprisonment if failed to pay the fine.

Shafi Ansari served four dishes on the marriage of his son.

Kasur city union council No 3 secretary filed the complaint and DDO (revenue) completed the inquiry.

It is the first case in the Punjab in which marriage ordinance violator was fined.

killed: KASUR, March 24: A woman was crushed by a speeding bus while crossing a road near Pattoki by-bass petrol pump.

Police said Ms Raj, along with her grandson, was crossing the road when the bus (LXC-5775) coming from Okara crushed her.

The Pattoki police have registered a case against the absconding driver.

COUPLE ROBBED: Four robbers snatched cash and golden ornaments from a couple near Atari Jeet Singh.

Sarfraz Haider and his wife were on their way home to Rajowal from Chhanga Manga. When they reached near the village, four gunmen intercepted their vehicle and robbed them of Rs25,000 in cash and nine tolas of gold jewellery.
