SAHIWAL, March 24: Multan’s Old Kotwali police claimed on Sunday to have arrested a former Sahiwal drug inspector and local board quality control member at their residences at Farid Town.
Raza Shahid, former drug inspector, and quality control board’s Dr Farooq Azam allegedly tried to kidnap Mujahid Islam, owner of a medicine company, on the premises of the drug court Multan on March 20. Police had registered a case under section 341, 511 PPC.
Meanwhile, the wives of the arrested men got registered two cases of kidnap of their husbands. They also alleged plundering of cash and ornaments from their houses.
The cases are registered separately under section 458/380, 365/427 PPC.
ARRESTED: Civil Lines police claimed on Monday to have registered a case against 19 workers of the Jamaat Ahl-i-Sunnat for demonstrating against a civil court on district court premises. They arrested 11 of them.
Reports said the local civil court in a case of ejectment had given verdict against Jamaat Ahl-i-Sunnat leader Pir Faqir Husain Qadri, who along with his supporters staged protest at the kutchery and chanted slogans against the civil judge.
Police registered the case against 19 people under section 188-PPC and 16-MPC, and arrested Pir Qadri, Shahzad Ali, Arshad, Muhammad Ashiq Dogar, Sheraz Ahmad, Liaquat Ali, Muhammad Ilyas, Imran, Shah Muhammad and Shakeel Ahmad.
Meanwhile, Fateh Sher police registered a case against on the complaint of Jamaat Ahl-i-Sunnat leader Mufti Walayat Iqbal and madressah Jamia Hanfia Nazim.
They alleged that Pir Faqir Husain Qadri and his supporters entered his house and threatened him with dire consequences.
The police have registered a case under section 452, 506 PPC.
