By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD Mar 24: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal appears divided over appointment of its president, Allama Shah Ahmed Noorani, as its parliamentary leader in the Senate.

After a meeting of the leaders of component parties of the alliance, it was announced that Allama Noorani would be its leader in the Senate. The announcement was contested by some JUI (Fazl) leaders.

JUI-F leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed told this scribe on Sunday: “The alliance had in fact decided that Allama Noorani should be the leader opposition in the Senate and the NWFP MMA Secretary-General Maulana Gul Nasib might be the parliamentary leader.”

Another leader of the alliance, National Assembly member Liaqat Baloch, claimed that the heads of the parties had decided to appoint Allama Noorani as the MMA’s parliamentary leader in the Senate and the decision had not been changed.
