Man awarded death sentence

RAWALPINDI, March 24: The district and sessions judge, Dost Mohammad Khemta, on Monday handed down death sentence to an accused in a murder case.

The court also awarded life imprisonment to the co-accused in the same case.

Shakeel was sentenced to death while Ibrar received life imprisonment. The court imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on each of the convicts, which would go to the bereaved family as compensation. The court declared that Shakeel must pay the fine while in default of the imposed fine, Ibrar, would have to under go six months of rigorous imprisonment.

The prosecution contended that both the convicts had killed Asjad when he slapped Shakeel during a cricket match after exchange of harsh words. Both the convicts murdered Asjad in revenge, in the jurisdiction of Kalar Saedaan police station.

According to the court, the prosecution had produced sufficient evidences against the convicts.

RI AWARDED: The civil judge and judicial magistrate, Hasnain Azhar Ghillo, awarded three months of rigorous imprisonment to a person for drug trafficking.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs1,000 on the convict, Khurram Waheed, who had been booked by Ganjmandi police for smuggling three bottles of wine.

EXONERATED: The additional district and sessions judge, Malik Akram Awan, exonerated three persons of the charges of adultery owing to the lack of evidences against them.
