Pakistan Day ceremonies cancelled

RAWALPINDI, March 23: The civic agencies and educational institutional institutions have cancelled all their Pakistan Day ceremonies to express their solidarity with the Iraqi people, it has been learnt.

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) and Tehsil Municipal Administration had arranged colourful programmes to mark the day. Schools and colleges had also planned various functions to mark the day, but were cancelled after America attacked Iraq. The Tehsil Nazim, Raja Hamid Nawaz, and other local authorities have condemned the US-led blitz on Iraq and appealed to the people to celebrate the day with sobriety and avoid music and other such programmes to show solidarity with their Iraqi brethren.—Reporter
