KARACHI, March 23: Ninety-seven vehicles — 41 cars and 56 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city in the past one week, the police said.

According to the figures provided by the Central Police Office, 21 cars were hijacked and 20 others were stolen in the past week, March 17-23.

Most of the cars were hijacked/stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Ferozabad, Kharadar, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Artillery Maidan and Samanadbad police limits.

Nineteen motorcycles were hijacked. Thirty-seven others were stolen.

Most of the motorcycles were hijacked/stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saeedabad, Baldia, Garden, Sachal, Gulzar-i-Hijri, Saddar, SITE, Defence, Aziz Bhatti, Korangi Industrial Area and Nazimabad.

The police claimed to have recovered 47 vehicles — 18 cars and 29 motorcycles — in the past week.
