KARACHI: Two men die in road accidents; 2 others killed

KARACHI, March 23: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city since late Saturday night
An elderly man died in road accident in North Nazimabad on Sunday.
The police said Mohammed Aslam, aged 75, was hit by a speeding minibus (JE-0887) of route W-23 near the terminus of 2-K buses in the police limits of Taimuria. The bus overturned in a bid to save Aslam. The bus driver fled the scene. The police claimed to have impounded the bus.
Aslam was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. He was resident of Korangi. Some cash and a wristwatch were found on his person.
A young man was run over by a speeding vehicle on Nishtar Road late Saturday night.
The police said pedestrian Mohammed Asif, aged 20, was run over by a speeding vehicle while walking across Nishtar Road. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
KILLED: A young man was found murdered in Pir Ilahi Bakhsh Colony on Sunday.
The police said headless body of an unidentified man was found near a stormwater drain in Bengali Para in the police limits of PIB. The head was placed beside his legs in a plastic bag. The dead man was in his mid-40s. He was wearing shalwar-kameez.
The identity of the dead man had not been established till our going to press.
The body was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem.
A young man killed his cousin in Baldia Town late Saturday night.
The police said Abdus Sattar stabbed Arif Rafiq, aged 17, and later shot him. Arif died before he could be taken to hospital. Sattar escaped.
The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Both men were hair dressers, the police said.
ARRESTED: The police arrested three men while they were firing on Jamia Darul Khair in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Sunday.
The police said a group of people fired on Jamia Darul Khair in Block 15 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar. The fire was returned from inside the Jamia. No one was reported injured in the firing.
The three arrested men were identified as Abdul Jabbar, Mahmoodul Hasan and Ishtiaq.
The police said the exchange of fire took place between two rival groups who claimed possession of the Jamia.
