KARACHI, March 23: Sindh government will soon recruit about 700 college teachers on contract or ad hoc basis to meet the shortage of teachers.
This was stated by provincial Minister for Education Irfanullah Khan Marwat while presiding over a meeting on Sunday.
These teachers would be given a chance to appear before the Sindh Public Service Commission during their services, he added.
Mr Marwat said students had been facing problems in getting education in their required subjects as there was a shortage of teachers in colleges.
“The government wants to improve the performance of the public sector educational institutions so that every child can get quality education in government schools.”
The minister said that to improve education standard, the government was introducing O-level education system in the province. At initial stage, the system would be introduced at the NJV Higher Secondary School.
For renovation of the school, he added, the private sector has provided a sum of Rs10 million. An auditorium would also be built in the school, he said.
The O-level system would also be initiated in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur and other district headquarters.—APP
