Karachi ‘A’ in main round thanks to Mudassir hat trick

KARACHI, March 22: Aided by a Mudassir Abbas hat trick, Karachi ‘A’ qualified for the main round, crushing Mirpurkhas 10-0 in an ill-tempered game on the opening day of the Under-19 national hockey championship preliminary round on Saturday.
Karachi reached the final round since Naseerabad, the third outfit of pool ‘A’, have pulled out from the tournament.
In another one-sided game of pool ‘B’, Multan gave Sibi a lesson with a 23-1 triumph thanks to a Sultan hat trick.
Karachi ‘A’ got off to a flying start and led the first half 5-0. Shabbir Ahmad started the attack with a 7th-minute goal and doubled the lead in the 19th minute.
Mudassir came into action with his first goal in the 23rd minute, and then added two quickfire goals in the 25th and 26th minute to gave his side a convincing 5-0 lead.
M. Imran’s 44th-minute goal saw Mirpurkhas’s M. Bilal receiving a yellow card four minutes later, while Ejaz Ahmad from the visiting side, was red carded in the 50th minute for misconduct and dissent.
Karachi ‘A’ surged 7-0 ahead in the 52nd minute with a Rizwan Khan goal, while Mudassir grabbed his fourth ten minutes later. Imran hammered home in the 67th minute and Shabbir completed the tally the next minute.
Multan opened up the onslaught against hapless Sibi with a Sultan goal in the 8th minute. Mohammad Siddiq’s 14th-minute goal was followed by third from Mohammad Bilal Omar in the 16th minute, while Hakim Ali scored the same minute.
Siddiq got his second in the 17th minute, Mohammad Ramzan netted the next minute, Siddiq slammed home his third in the 21st minute, and Hakim was on target again in the 26th minute.
Haider Ali got the consolation goal for Sibi in the 27th minute which as followed by a Hakim goal in the 30th minute, while Siddiq and Hakim again found the net in the 31st and 43th minutes.
Ramzan (37th minute), Siddiq (38th minute), Hakim (39th minute), Siddiq (50th minute), Hakim (51st minute), Bilal (56th minute), Hakim (57th minute) and Siddiq (60th minute) made it 19- 0.
Sultan completed his hat trick slamming home in the 60th, and then banging twice in the 63rd minute. Shoaib Hassan completed the scoring in the dying seconds of the game.
