TAXILA, March 22: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said the MMA will enforce Shariat in the province in letter and in spirit and all laws repugnant of Shariat would be amended accordingly.

He was talking to newsmen at the residence of former Chief Minister Raja Sikandar Zaman at Khan Pur on Saturday.

Mr Durrani said that by introducing the Shariat, all affairs and businesses of the government would be run in the light of the holy Quran and Sunnah.

He said Shariat would be implemented in the NWFP after approval of a bill from the assembly. He said the enforcement of Shariat was the MMA’s election promise and “we would ensure fulfilment of all promises made to the people.”

Referring to Iraq, he regretted that the Muslim Ummah failed to adopt a united stand on Baghdad and that was why the US attacked Iraq.

He urged Muslim countries to unite so that they could jointly save Muslim countries from anti-Islamic forces.
