AIG admits poor law, order situation
SUKKUR, March 22: The police personnel who went after armed men who kidnapped two police officials returned without apprehending the accused or releasing the hostages on Saturday.
The police officials were kidnapped from the Kajli check post along with arms and ammunition on Thursday night.
The incident has created panic and harassment among the police force, specially those who are deployed at the Sindh-Balochistan border.
Meanwhile, a meeting of senior officials of the police department, held at the Guddu Rest House on Saturday, expressed concerned over the deteriorating law and order situation in Jacobabad.
It reviewed the law and order situation in border areas, including Tangwani, Thull, Kashmore and Bahoo Khoso, where outlaws are operating and attacking on police posts.
The meeting, presided over by the AIG, Sukkur range, Rahoo Khan Brohi, also expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the Frontier Constabulary, deployed at the border picket post, for failing to intercept the outlaws.
It decided to establish more check posts in the area and to launch an operation against outlaws.
KILLED: A married woman was killed and a man was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in Risaldar Buriro village, near Thull, on Saturday.
The man injured was identified as Mohammad Bachal.
The police said the incident was the result of a Karo-kari dispute.
Jalaluddin Khoso, the father of the deceased woman, said the police were not registering the FIR.
CONTROL ROOM: A control room has been established at the DCO’s office which will coordinate with provincial control rooms set up at the home department and the police headquarters to avert any toward incident that may occur in the wake of the US-led attack on Iraq.
CANALS CLOSURE: The canals of the Guddu Barrage will remain closed in April due to inspection and repair work.
This was announced by the superintending engineer, Desert Pat Feeder, Sukkur.
The canals originating from the Guddu Barrage are the Ghotki Feeder, Begari Sindh Feeder and the Desert Pat Feeder.
