BAHAWALPUR, March 22: Arrangements for laying four water pipelines in the Cholistan desert at a cost of Rs60 million have been completed.

This was stated here on Saturday by Cholistan Development Authority managing director Maj-Gen Abdul Razzaq (retired).

He said the work on 50-kilometre long Malkana to Tofana would start within a couple of weeks.

He said in the next phase pipelines would be laid from Meergarh to Choori (40 km), Channan Pir to Bijnot (100 kms) and Qasimwala to Nawankot (50 kms). The project could be completed within a year, he added.

The MD said three turbines at every starting point would be installed which would pump out sweet drinking water. It would be transported through the pipelines and stored in big ponds, he said.

RESULT: The Islamia University, Bahawalpur, on Saturday announced the results of M.Ed annual examinations, 2002.

According to the notification, 87 candidates out of 166 were declared successful showing a pass percentage of 52.4.
