KARACHI: Pakistan Day programmes in city


KARACHI, March 22: Pakistan Day will be celebrated here on Sunday as in other parts of the country with national enthusiasm, fervour and in a befitting manner.

The day has been declared as national holiday and it will dawn with thanks-giving prayers in all mosques of the country.

A 21-guns salute will be held in the provincial capital.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-i-Ibad and Chief Minister Sardar Ali Muhammad Mahar, with members of the Sindh cabinet, will visit the Mazar of the Quaid-i-Azam and lay wreaths there in the morning.

The Mazar would be the centre of attraction for the city people, where representatives of various cultural, social and political parties and groups will visit to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.

Special arrangements have been made at the Mazar of the Quaid. The main tomb and park around the mausoleum has been renovated for this purpose.

Pakistan flag will be hoisted on principal public and private buildings. All the government buildings have been illuminated with buntings and colourful flags.

Radio and television with air special programmes, highlighting the importance of the day and play national songs. Noted workers of the Pakistan movement will be invited to speak in Radio and TV programmes.

Newspapers would take out special supplements on Pakistan Day, in which articles about Pakistan Resolution and its importance would be published.

Various social, political and religious organizations would hold special programmes to celebrate the day, which would include Qirat contests, debates, essay competitions.—APP
