GUJRANWALA, March 21: District Police Officer Saud Aziz on Friday suspended an SHO and an investigation officer for illegally detaining and torturing an elderly man.

District and Sessions Judge Riazul Hassan Alvi ordered that both the police officials, SHO Malik Fayyaz and ASI Faheem Ahmad, should not be posted at any police station for one year. They were issued show-cause notices on the court’s orders.

Wazirabad police kept Abdul Ghaffar into illegal confinement for two weeks and allegedly tortured him during interrogation. A bailiff of the district sessions judge freed him two days ago.
