Hat trick by Shah Qubilai

LAHORE, March 20: Four goals by Shah Qubilai Alam including a hat trick helped Guard Filter beat Siddiq Textile 7-4 1/2 in G Mueen-ud-Din memorial  polo cup on Thursday.

Guard Filter got off to a fine start by taking a 2- 1 1/2 lead in the first chukker. I A Khan drew first blood for the losers to further extend the half goal handicap lead. 

But Taimur Malik struck back to back goals to take Guard ahead.

Guard surged ahead 4-1 1/2 in the second chukker by scoring two more goals in the second chukker. Qubilai scored his first goal followed by a goal from Usman Hayee.

In the third chukker Guard held its lead (5- 3 1/2) despite conceding two goals against one they scored. Khan scored his second goal while Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana struck for the losers. Qubilai slammed his second for the winners.

In the fourth chukker, Qubilai completed his hat trick by scoring two more goals. Raja Sattar scored a goal for Shahzad but only to reduce the margin.

Two goals each by Yaqoob and Kamran Noor-ud-Din helped Surf to carve out 5-3 victory against Black Berets.

Surf gained 2-0 lead in the first chukker as Yaqoob and Feroze Gulzar scored a goal each.

In the second chukker Surf increased the lead to 3-0 when Kamran scored his first and the solitary goal of the chukker.

In the third chukker, the losers tried to make a match of it by reducing the margin to 3-2 as Umar Sadik and Jamal Iftikhar scored a goal each.

However, the situation completely changed in the fourth chkker when Yaqoob and Kamran banged home with their second goal of the match each for the winners to extend the lead 5-2.

 Col Talha Saeed reduced margin (5-3) in the last minute.
